The Client

Christopher Oglesby is an American tenor performing at the highest levels of the opera world. A San Francisco Opera Adler Fellow, he has sung roles ranging from Rodolfo in La bohème and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly to Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor and Dan White in Harvey Milk Reimagined. He has performed with Utah Opera, Sarasota Opera, Calgary Opera, Opera Maine, and the Grand Teton Music Festival, and has been praised by the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Examiner, and San Francisco Classical Voice for bringing vibrancy, passion, and charisma to every role he takes on.

The Project

Opera singers need photography that works on two levels: images that capture the dramatic range of the characters they inhabit, and a strong portrait that anchors their personal brand. Christopher needed both.

The Approach

Christopher came to the shoot with a clear vision: he wanted images that conveyed the emotional spectrum of the characters he plays — joy, anguish, intensity, vulnerability — with a genuine sense of operatic drama. And alongside those, one grounded, commanding portrait that was simply, unmistakably him.

Rather than staging elaborate scenes, we focused on expression and light — finding the drama in the face, the posture, the moment. Each image was built to feel like a still from a performance: charged, intentional, alive.

The Result

A cohesive set of images that gives Christopher a full visual toolkit — dramatic character studies for promotional and press use, and a signature portrait that works across his website, programs, and social media.
